From the beginning we developed our engine to work to floating point accuracy. What does this mean? Layout all your screens, pages, menus and other items in a single project across any number of artboards.

Export artboards, or any individual elements in your designs, with a single click. Symbols allow you to include unlimited instances of the same base object across your project. Edit one, and the rest update instantly. Pixel perfect designs are assured by viewing your work in pixel preview mode. This allows you to view vectors in both standard and retina resolution, giving you a completely live view of how every element of your design will export. Whether working with artistic text for headlines, or frames of text for body copy, you can add advanced styling and ligatures with full control over leading, kerning, tracking and more.

At any time convert your text to curves to take full control and produce your own exquisite, custom typography to add serious impact. Advanced file support is at the core of the back-end technology behind Affinity Designer. This means if you create buttons or headers in the mockup you can change colors or font styles once to update everything.

Other features include custom grids and even resizable features to design mockups for responsive layouts. There are also some alternative features available that can be used for simple and complex projects to do all the things simply and efficiently. Affinity relies on the same tools for vector design as every other major program, including Adobe Illustrator.

But you also have the pen tool which carries over from Adobe programs like Photoshop and Illustrator. For example, icon design is useful for everything from graphic design to web design and motion graphics. Great intro tuts can teach you how to make a flat castle icon and how to create neat retro icons. But you can go so much further with vector work. Consider this tutorial for a scrolling vector background design. First, I recommend figuring out exactly what you want to do.

Are you more of a print designer? Logo designer? Pick one area and then follow a couple of tutorials on that subject. Each tutorial is completely free and easy to follow. Where should you go for support? The first thing to note about Affinity Photo is that there are actually two types of guides you can create.

This type of guide is best used for anyone creating layouts for magazines, websites, phone apps, etc. Next, make sure your rulers are displayed around your canvas.

Once you have the rulers around your canvas, click and drag your mouse from either the vertical or horizontal rulers around your canvas red arrow in the image above is pointing to the horizontal rulers. This will produce a guide as you drag your mouse downward and over your document blue arrow in the image above. Continue to hold your mouse click until you reach the location where you would like to place your guide. Release your mouse click, and the guide will be placed at that location red arrow in the image above.

However, there is a way to get precision with guide placement using the second method for Ruler Guide placement. If I click on this guide once, it will make this guide active. I can type whatever numerical value I want in this field, and it will adjust the position of my guide. Clicking this icon will create a brand new horizontal guide on your composition.

By default, the new guide will be placed exactly halfway down your composition in my case at pixels since my image is pixels in height.
